Using Osprey

Learn how to use Osprey to manage your day-to-day operations and processes

Who is this guide for?

Any Users

Several problems can be caused by the temporary internet files folder being full of files which are out of date or otherwise not required. This can include incorrect figures on screens and/or reports, or other error messages to appear.

Before doing clearing your temporary files you must ensure all browser windows are closed. Please choose your browser from the list on the right.

Internet Explorer

Step 1


Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard and select the ‘R’ key to bring up the ‘Run’ box. Enter inetcpl.cpl as shown here.

Step 2


Select ‘OK’ to bring up your ‘Internet Properties’ panel.

On the ‘General’ tab will be a ‘Browsing History’ area containing two buttons. One for ‘Delete’ and one for ‘Settings’. Select the ‘Delete’ button.

Step 3


The ‘Delete Browsing History’ panel will now open. Ensure that the ‘Preserve Favourites Website Data’ box at the very top is unticked.

Now ensure that the ‘Temporary Internet Files and Website Files’ and the ‘Cookies and Website Data’ boxes are both ticked. The rest of the boxes are not relevant, but you may tick them if you wish.

The panel should now look as follows:

Select the ‘Delete’ button. This will begin the deleting process and the panel will be replaced by a progress bar, as displayed here.

Once complete, the progress box will disappear and return you to the ‘Internet Properties’ panel.

Google Chrome

Step 1


Log out of Osprey, then navigate to the top right corner of Chrome and click the Menu button, highlighted below:

Click the menu button and select Settings.

Step 3


Scroll down to the Privacy and Security section. Select Clear Browsing Data

Step 4


Ensure that Cookies and Other Site Data and Cached Images and Files are selected and that the Time range is set to All Time. Click Clear Data.

Microsoft Edge

Step 1


Log out of Osprey and click the … menu button in the top right hand corner of Edge. Select Settings.

Step 2


On the left hand menu, select Privacy, search and services

Step 3


Click the Choose What to Clear button in the main screen.

Step 4


Ensure that Cookies and Other Site Data and Cached Images and Files are selected, and that the Time Range is set to All Time. Click Clear Now.

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1


Log out of Osprey and click the menu button in the top right hand corner. Select Options.

Step 2


Select Privacy and Security.

Step 3


Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section, and click Clear Data.

Step 4


Ensure both boxes are ticked and click Clear.

Other Windows Temporary Files

Other temporary files are stored in a folder under your local network username. These should also be removed to ensure the smooth running of Osprey Approach.

Step 1


Navigate to your local files on your computer. If you don’t know how to access these you can do the following:

Hold down the Windows Key on the keyboard and select the ‘R’ key to bring up the ‘Run’ box. Enter c:// in the ‘Open’ box and click ‘OK’.

Step 2


You will now be in your C drive on your computer. At the top of this screen, select the ‘View’ tab and ensure that ‘Hidden Items’ is ticked, as shown below:

You will see a folder that says ‘Users’. Select this, then you should see a folder with your username as the title. Click this and continue to follow the folder string below until you come to one titled ‘Temp’.

This contains all of the temporary files saved locally on your machine.

To clear these, hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key and then click the ‘A’ key on your keyboard to highlight all of the files. Then click ‘Delete’ to remove them.
