{"id":51978,"date":"2022-12-12T14:28:36","date_gmt":"2022-12-12T14:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/?post_type=pracctice_guide&#038;p=51978"},"modified":"2024-04-26T15:18:27","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T14:18:27","slug":"generating-and-printing-cheques","status":"publish","type":"pracctice_guide","link":"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/support\/guides\/generating-and-printing-cheques\/","title":{"rendered":"Generating and Printing Cheques"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"card\">\n\n    <p class=\"mb-2\"><strong>Who is this guide for?<\/strong><\/p>\n    <p class=\"mb-0\"><i class=\"far fa-user fa-fw mr-2\"><\/i> <strong>Accounts Users<\/strong><\/p>    \n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This guide will go through generating cheques for you to print on your office stationery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once your supervisor has <a href=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/guides\/cheque-printing\/\">created a cheque template &gt;<\/a>, you can start posting and printing cheques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Generating a Printable Cheque<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Client Bank Payment or Office Bank Payment postings will have a tick box &#8211; Cheque Required? <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"449\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-71.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63635\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-71.png 449w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-71-300x208.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This box must be ticked during the financial posting in order to generate a printable cheque in Osprey. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"448\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-72.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-72.png 448w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-72-300x251.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have ticked this box, you will be presented with 3 further boxes: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Payee:<\/strong> Enter the Payee name as you want it to appear on the printed cheque. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cheque Option: <\/strong>This drop down gives you 3 options\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Generate next cheque number &#8211; The system will automatically enter the next cheque number based on the value held against the relevant bank. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter next cheque number &#8211; This option allows you to type in the cheque number. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add to existing cheque &#8211; This allows you to add the amount for this cheque to another you have already posted for the same payee &#8211; for example, if you have a client with several matters that you want to pay client monies back to. See guide <a href=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/guides\/add-an-amount-to-an-existing-cheque\/#client-ledger-payment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> for assistance with this option. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Posting Detail:<\/strong> This drop down also gives you 3 options:  \n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leave as entered &#8211; The posting detail will be retained as originally entered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add payee to detail &#8211; The payee name will be added to the detail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Replace detail with payee &#8211; The posting detail you entered will be removed and replaced with the payee detail. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clicking Post will then post your entry and also add a printable cheque into the list within the Banks and Journals area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Printing Cheques<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Navigate to Banks &amp; Journals, Cheque Printing. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"312\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-74.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63654\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-74.png 312w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/image-74-300x154.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select the bank that you want to print cheques for.
