With view only web sites, only the download speed will affect the speed of access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Try your alternate site<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you experience speed issues with Osprey, there are several things you can try. The first is to try using the alternate site. All of Pracctice Limited\u2019s client base have two links from which to access their Osprey accounts. One will follow the pattern:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">.ospreyapproach.com\/main <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and the other:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">.ospreyapproachbackup.com\/main<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example 1: <a href=\"http:\/\/YOURCOMPANYNAME.osprey.tm\/main\">http:\/\/YOURCOMPANYNAME.ospreyapproach.com\/main<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example 2: <a href=\"http:\/\/YOURCOMPANYNAME.osprey.to\/main\">http:\/\/YOURCOMPANYNAME.ospreyapproachbackup.com\/main<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both links will take you to the same database, but via a different route across the internet. If one of the sites appears to be running slowly, you may find that switching to the other site will bypass any issues on the internet route from your offices to our servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Ping your site<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perform a \u201cping\u201d to see whether you are able to reach your site from your office. Ping is a computer network administration software utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do this, hold down the <strong><em>Windows<\/em><\/strong> <span class=\"inline-icon\"><i class=\"fab fa-windows\"><\/i><\/span> key on the keyboard and select the \u2018<strong><em>R<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 key to bring up the \u2018Run\u2019 box. Enter \u201ccmd\u201d into the box and then select \u2018OK\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"413\" height=\"213\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-235.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-235.png 413w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-235-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 413px) 100vw, 413px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A command prompt window will now open.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"677\" height=\"343\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-236.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-681\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-236.png 677w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/image-236-300x152.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A flashing cursor will appear after your username. In here, enter the following: <strong><em>ping YOURSITENAME.osprey<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>approach.com<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then press the \u2018Enter\u2019 key on your keyboard. The ping test will run and should return results similar to those below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"173\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-73.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-73.png 696w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-73-300x75.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can see from that screenshot that the internet connection is running well, with 0% packet loss. This means that no data is being lost when transmitting or receiving across the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do see any packet loss, it\nmay be worth rebooting your internet router (turn it off, wait for 10-15\nseconds, then turn it back on again) or calling in your IT support firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Run a trace route<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trace routes are computer network diagnostic tools for displaying the route and measuring transit delays of packets across an Internet Protocol (IP) network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The history of the route is\nrecorded as the round-trip times of the packets received from each successive\nhost in the route; the sum of the mean times in each hop indicates the total\ntime spent to establish the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Traceroute proceeds unless all\nthree sent packets are lost more than twice, then the connection is lost and\nthe route cannot be evaluated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To perform a trace route, at the DOS prompt, as above, type the following: <strong><em>tracert YOURSITENAME.ospreyapproach.com<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should see something like the below screenshot below, which again, shows a healthy connection. If any asterisks (*) appear within the times in milliseconds (ms) on this screen, this indicates an issue. Using the alternative site as described above may help to get you around this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"655\" height=\"294\" src=\"https:\/\/support.ospreyapproach.com\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-74.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-74.png 655w, https:\/\/ospreyapproach2022.wireddemo.co.uk\/content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/image-74-300x135.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Check your internet speed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also worth checking your\nbroadband connection to ensure it is working to the speed you have been quoted\nby your provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are various different\ntesting sites on the internet which you can use to determine the speeds you are\ngetting. Remember that because Osprey is an online application rather than just\na web site, data is sent across the internet as well as being received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means that where view only web sites (Google search, BBC News etc.) seem to be running quickly, these sites only rely on your download speed. Osprey also relies on your upload speed to send the data that you enter into the screens up to our servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.which.co.uk\/reviews\/broadband-deals\/article\/broadband-speed-test-check-and-fix-your-internet-speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.which.co.uk\/reviews\/broadband-deals\/article\/broadband-speed-test-check-and-fix-your-internet-speed<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Try plugging your machine into the router<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wireless technology is great, but it may be that depending on the router position within your house or building, you are not getting the best speeds you can. Try wiring your machine into the router to see whether the speed improves. If the improvement is considerable, try repositioning the router to a more central point, ensuring that it is clear of walls, paperwork etc. to allow its signal to permeate through the building, and perhaps consider investing in a WiFi signal booster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Reboot the router<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often it will be weeks since your router was last rebooted, and a reset can improve performance significantly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h2 wp-block-paragraph\">Ensure both your machine and router are updated regularly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Failure to install Windows updates or router firmware updates can cause big issues in terms of security, so install all recommended updates on both your machine and your router. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may find that other website sare working normally, but Osprey seems slower than normal.
